Final Fantasy VII
A Long, Hard Road (Mirror site: ALHR) (EPIC) (game only) I started reading this story when there were "only" 29 parts posted. This was back around the year 2K. It would be another two years until the story was finally completed. I cannot imagine the pain of following this story since its first chapter! This story is the longest fic I have ever read. (See the comparison of it printed out--one-sided--to a phonebook.) It is also one of the best I've read. All of the characters from FF7 appear and play significant roles. The characterizations have been expanded believably and the plot is simply amazing. This is not for the faint of heart, though. This is very much a war story with violence and gore, and angst of absolutely gut-wrenching pain. And did I mention how long this baby is? Not at all a quick read and it's definately addicting. I admit that when I reread it I've skipped the scenes not directly related to Zack, Cloud, or Sephiroth. (Pairings in this story: main one is Sephiroth/Cloud {eventually}, Zack/Tifa, Vincent/Yuffie, Rude/Reno/Elena...) Some parts have explicit sexual content
Exegesis 1-14 (WIP epic) (game only) A fabulous fic that hasn't moved for months... but damn. If there's anyone I'd read a WiP for, it's Twig. Lots of violence here, not unexpected. Cloud seems to have gone renegade post-game, with not a friend in the world except Yuffie, whose father is using him in a new war against ShinRa. The Planet, unsure of its choice of Cloud as its saviour, recalls Sephiroth, who must put the pieces together. Probably my favorite part of this so far is the amount of flashbacks that goes back to look at how Zack and Cloud met, became friends, etc. Again, consider that this is a work in progress.
Mercenary A short fic that takes a peek at Cloud's time as a mercenary before working for AVALANCHE. A nicely done character piece.
The Best Laid Plans (Crisis Core) I hate Genesis, he was an annoying bastard who only about 5% of the time said something that wasn't a Loveless quote. This story... rocks. Crack!fic. Implied kink.
Shadow of Destiny
Blood Red Moon (Shadow of Destiny) One of about three fics I've ever read for the fandom (which is far too small, btw). This is an amazing story that builds a rich, believable world and will fool you into thinking this is canon. It's a slash story pairing Eike and Hommonculous. Be sure you're familiar with all of the game endings so as not to be spoiled. Oh, and this is a long sucker! Note: Currently website is being updated. 1/29/09
